Basmati Rice with Turmeric and Peas

Light and fluffy basmati rice with turmeric, garlic, vegetable stock and an added pop of freshness from sweet peas. Gluten-Free/Vegan

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp fresh cracked pepper
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 2 cloves garlic grated
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups vegetable
  • cups frozen peas thawed


  • Heat oil over medium heat, in a saucepan. Add in turmeric, cracked pepper and basmati rice. Stir the rice so that all grains are coated in the turmeric oil. Add the garlic and salt and stir again, cooking for 1 minute, until garlic is fragrant.
  • Pour stock into pan and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low and place the lid on the pan. Cook for 15-20 minutes until liquid has been absorbed and rice is fluffy. Place peas in the pan on top of the rice and put the lid back on. Let the peas and rice sit for 5 minutes, to allow peas to warm through.
  • Gently fluff rice with a fork and stir peas into rice.
